If I drew a map of my life I would would design a topography map with layers upon layers of where I started, where my life shifted and where it's been. Not knowing what will happen next I would include text perhaps of my dreams of the future. The surface of this piece embodies that idea of the journey a life can take but not in the usual sense of a road or a path-instead an historical map of sorts.
This figurative sculpture is slab built using stoneware clay. The surfaceis made up of layers of slips and underglazes, with incising of text, textures, mark making, and oxides and fired to cone 02.
